This must have been one of the last passenger carrying DC-10 arrivals at Gatwick and captures Northwest Airlines DC-10-30ER N240NW arriving on 9th June 2006. Most Northwest flights to Gatwick had transferred over to A330's by this time and this would have been one of the few Northwest DC-10's to appear in the final livery of the airline before its merger with Delta Airlines. Northwest along with Japan Airlines was unusual in originally ordering 22 of the -40 version of the DC-10 powered by Pratt & Whitney JT9D engines rather than the more usual General Electric CF-6 units of the -30 series. Northwest later acquired 24 DC-10-30's with N240NW being the last (l/n 438) and one of only three -30ER models to be delivered to Northwest and presumably the reason why it soldiered on for a little while longer, before leaving the fleet and being transferred to Omni Air on 21st December 2006.

A long way from being one of my better photos as it was taken in pouring rain during the spring of 1984 from the terrace on the Queens Building at Heathrow. The negative hasn't worn too well over the years either. However, it's a DC-10 Series 30 of VARIG (Viação Aérea RIo-Grandense) the former national airline of Brazil and the only time I ever saw one!

On a nice summer's day in 1984, a rather grubby looking Tupolev TU-154B-1 YR-TPE of Tarom Romanian Air Transport is being serviced between flights at Heathrow's Terminal 2.
Scan from a negative taken using a Pentax ME Super fitted with a Tamron 80-210 manual focus zoom lens.

British Airways Lockheed L1011-1 TriStar G-BBAF launches from 28R (as it was then) at London-Heathrow during the summer of 1984. In my opinion, the TriStar was one of the designs that suited the BA Negus livery, unlike others such as the Trident, VC10 and One-Eleven. A scan from one of my negatives.

This is a scan from a full-frame shot taken at IAT '87 shooting with a Pentax ME Super loaded with 400 ISO 35mm negative film. British Airways Concorde (208) G-BOAB in much happier days as sadly, she now sits very forlornly near the threshold of 27L at London-Heathrow.
